  14. Kayla says:

I love this!! I’m totally guilty of trying to stay professional and not letting my personality shine. NO MORE!! My question though is how do you factor breaks in session time? I always feel like I’m cheapening the experience if I don’t shoot as much as possible.

    • Evie Rupp says:

That’s a great question! Think of it this way: if you’re shooting non-stop, but it’s mediocre shots because everyone’s worn down and doesn’t have space to breathe, does that enhance the experience? Or cheapen it in and of itself? In my opinion, it doesn’t do a single thing to add value to the session or the photos. I factor in enough time with my shoots that I know I can take plenty of breathers if I need to and still get them a bulging-ly full gallery. 🙂 (It’s one reason I don’t do sessions less than an hour. Let’s say I only shoot for 45-50 minutes, with the breathers, etc. That’s still PLENTY of shooting + photos for my clients!)

      Hope that helps, girl!!!

  15. Anna says:

Thank you Evie! I stumbled upon your instagram about a year ago when I was just feeling the desire to pursue photography as more than just a side hobby of taking photos for friends. I watched an insta story where you were talking about some of the things you mentioned above and put them into practice immediately. I had a session the next day, and it was a complete game changer. I was SHOCKED about how much difference it made, in myself and my photos. Thank you for being so willing to teach others! <3
